I’m starting this blog simply to promote my site. My site is www.mybeadcreations.com. It is, as you can probably guess, a bead jewelry site. I’m originally from New Mexico, I live in Hoboken, New Jersey, BUT!! BUT BUT! I’m moving to Las Vegas Nevada in November! YAY! And, before that there’s the small trip to Africa that I’m taking in October. So, life, and hopefully this blog, will be very interesting! YAY!

Jury duty this morning. I have to go back tomorrow. I re-did the site this afternoon. MORE PICTURES on the front page, and ME regulated to a mere button on the home page. I must put the beads first!

It is unbelieveable to me that on this day 3 years ago, I got married to the best man in the whole world. Happy anniversary Mr. B!

I was working in New York, when 9/11/01 happened. It is the most vivid memory I have, besides my wedding day. I remember absolutely everything that happened from the time I found out until the next day. Even before I found out what was happening, the feeling I had, waiting for the irregularly late train, to just turn around and GO HOME. Yeah, I hated my job, and the ‘go home’ feeling was not unusual, but this particular morning it was stronger, and with a feeling of dread. I didn’t, and when I emerged from the subway, there was obviously something going on. People looking in dread behind me, a man pulling a woman into the (safe part of the) street “Look! You can see it from here!!” I stopped for my usual bagel, and asked a guy what was going on. He said a crop plane had hit one of the towers, and then another plane had hit the other tower. I thought, “What a jerk this guy is! If he doesn’t know, there’s no reason to make up a lie like that! Geeze!” I got to work, and his ‘lie’ was confirmed. The rest of the day was spent meeting up with my fiance at the time (husband now) and getting HOME.

Well, due to circumstances of life, we’ve called off the Africa trip. Instead, we are going to go to Mexico. I’m still looking forward to it, oh yeah! Beach, baby! And, hopefully, some good bead finds.

My friends from NM are coming in on Friday, for the weekend. I so cannot wait! They’ve never been here before, and we are going to have a blast! On Saturday we’re going to see The White Stripes on Coney Island. Wear your black, white and/or red!

My first and longest love affair. 9/22/05

My love affair with beads began when I was very young. 1981, or there about. My room was a loft that was also used as a storage room, and as I was snooping around one day, exploring the treasures my parents had stored, I came across a small box that was covered with brightly colored animals. Purple gorillas, green giraffes, red elephants, what a great box! What treasures could be inside? I slowly lifted the lid, and there was a treasure trove! Tubes of brightly colored seed beads, thread, and needles. I asked my mom about it, and she said vaguely, “Oh, yeah, I was into beads once.”

It did not even occur to me to ask if I could have this wondrous box. I would just get it out and look at it every once in a while. Finally, I asked mom if I could have it, I mean, they were just sitting there, and I could put them to good use! She didn’t even think about it, “Of course!” was her instant reply, and the dam was broken, I was INTO beads!!

Fast forward to ‘the good ol’ days’ when I was younger and had a ‘real’ job, and lots of disposable income. I built up an incredible stash from the many LBS’ (Local Bead stores) that dot the great city of Albuquerque, New Mexico and began weaving, stringing, peyote stitching, multi stranding and just having a ball in my spare time.

And fast forward again to today, when I’m having a ball everyday, making beaded jewelry and selling my pieces

The White Stripes

Well folks, the The White Stripes were awesome! And as an extra bonus, Albuquerque NM’s very own THE SHINS! were one of the opening acts! The other band was Brendan Benson. Both bands rocked, but when Jack and Meg took the stage they tore it up!

We were in the front row, standing on the field. The crowd was excellent, and my (2 female) friends were able to get in, because some ultra cool guys gave them their comped tickets. Whoever you are, you guys rule hard!
